Prose.

14-

Did you see?

That night when you were invisible,
Did you see her pass by? Did you notice I was
Hidden in the mix of words and wine? Did you
Think, for one second, that I would be the one
You would pain that night?

The resemblance to one another.
The game of our speech.
The twist of the next game.
The start of a new page.
And here I am. Blank.
Did you see?

Where did my muse go?
She was here a second ago.
I was fine and now she is gone.
And the black won’t flow
And the anchor has stopped
And the thoughts won’t come
And I kiss your hand
And I beg you return
But you smile and
You leave me at your feet,
Staring at the empty cloud
Of air you left behind.

Now
There’s no prose without your love.

Please, muse.
Come back.

Ser un Ser. Learning.

112-

Ser un Ser

Sentimos un cierto vacio
Los seres queridos
Los seres vividos
Los seres humanos

Learning

I have learned to live in the present.
There are times I concentrate in the future.
Sometimes I think of the past.
And that is when I cry.

Just words ...

-111-

Just words …

Words of a short story
Tears of a strong face
Clouds of a blue sky
Normalcy never arrives

To the time of the life of the year in return:
‘Never’ means the essence of the time you can’t see.
Stupidity comes easily to those who think they know the truth
Random acts of hate come easily to those who think they are the best

But the best comes when you know you are wrong
Steam forward and rejoice in your age
Youth may not come back but it is permanent in life
Exist and you will always be here in expiration
For your mind has left posterity, if the sky was yours to attain.

Art.

114-

Art.

In the words
Of painters
We progress
As artists.

In the spirit
Of writers,
We are inspired
As poets.

In the songs
Of musicians
We tenor
An obtuse melody.

And,
As passionate beings
In the art of life,
We discover;
We learn;
We recover;
We keep going.

As humans.

Hands

102-

Hands

Squeeze you tight.
Form your shape.
Guide my path.
Take you there.

See how strong.
Tell me love.
Feel my passion.
My reaction.
Take my hands.
Guide them well.
They will do
What you say
They will please you
Every day.

Thank them well
And expect
That from now
until the grave

They'll satisfy
They'll love
They'll retain
Their devotion
By your side
They'll show you strength.

Lock our fate
Kiss my hands
And at your service
They'll remain.

Things

101-

Things

The things that must be done in life,
I do.
The things that are in sight,
I see.
The things that I must go grab,
I get.
The things that are impossible,
are fine.
But...
There are times
When things seem hard to grab,
When I see what I can miss,
When grabbing is not for my grip,
and when the impossible does seem
out of this world.

No matter.

I still go forward.
You never know when life says no more.
I want to treat obstacles as the sea
and my will as my vessel.
I can.
I can.
Don't wrestle.
Just reach.

They are only things.

1:4

You raised us well
Four kids in your custody
You did well
For a mom of one income
In the D.C. area

We turned out fine
I’d say in fact you did sublime
I’d say you should be proud;
In all honesty, I know you are

Your Latin-American background
Your Catholic stride
Your Mormon conversion
Won’t let you see
But I’ll defend you, mom.

You can be what you are
And I’ll accept you for who you are
And though I wish you’d do the same for me
I am not here to judge and
I know that you love me still.

I know it embarrasses you but
There is nothing I can do
It’s innate in me
And this is how I choose to live
I love you for you
You bore me
You fed me
You are the best advice
I’ve ever had
I just wish you would embrace this part of me
Because

She is wonderful
She is sweet
She makes me happy and I wish you could see
But it’s ok mom.

I’m here to defend you
I don’t want you to go away
I want you to stay with me
And one day,
When your eyes close,
I know that you’ll know I loved you for you
And that I defended your point of view
Because you don’t have to like every part of me
And because I admire you for you.

You taught me respect
And that includes how you feel about me.
Although you probably will never read this,
I want you to know that you raised us well and
That it isn’t your fault that I am this way.

I just love you mom. That’s all I am here to say.
