For my Lover

7485--

For my lover…

When she wakes
She smells the air of fall
Her eyes are blue and they
Show
The brilliant colors that
Indicate the summer is gone

Our skin no longer glistens
With the heat and whispers
By our summer bed
But our bodies remain hot
With desire aided by the autumn
Fire
Her naked skin
Our bed of gold sheets
Ready for what the morning brings.

This woman
Does not have to hang on to me
Because all she has to do is reach to her side
To know that I’m right beside
Interlocking
Her lovely arm
Which will remain my rightful place
For as long as she wants

And the cold approaches
And the snow falls closer
We long for summer days
But I know the winter will
Bring the desperate chilled air
That will bring us closer
And will preach emotion
To our devotion that waits
With a hot cup of tea,
Cuddled up, watching TV,
For the warm spring air
And our hot summer bed.

But the thing is,
No matter the seasons

I’ll be in your arms.
